PURPOSE -
Manage Starkist Samoa, Co. cannery manufacturing Maintenance Engineering, Stockroom, Fishmeal/Fish oil, Utilities and Environmental activities in terms of measured and reported operational, financial, quality, and safety performance objectives. Provide leadership and guidance to a multi-skilled workforce covering a wide range of activities and accountabilities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES –

Control the cost of the Engineering, Utilities and Fishmeal/Fish Oil Operation, as determined by budgets. Oversee the plant environmental programs and permits. Install, maintain and modify equipment or machinery in all phases of cannery manufacturing to cleanliness, sanitary and contaminant free standards, which comply with company and FDA requirements. Continually drive process improvements and programs utilizing latest technology and engineering principles. Plan, evaluate and recommend capital expenditures with plant engineering and Director and ensure projects are finished within approved limits. Track spending to validate estimated costs and returns. Develop, drive and maintain a functional, auditable, preventive maintenance program. Identify engineering opportunities to improve plant efficiencies, yield, operating cost reduction and quality. Provide capital budgets, capital forecasts and capital appropriations. Assure safe and healthful working environment. Manufacture of finished goods that meet regulatory, food safety and customer quality requirements.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPENTENCIES-

B.A. Minimum Required 15 years of overall professional experience in Engineering Management 10 years in a position of similar complexity, scope, size and international impact Broad knowledge and experience in engineering and maintenance gained at successive levels of responsibility in multiple areas of food manufacturing and general engineering Knowledge of corporate policies and compliance Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills
