Position Summary

Responsible for the installation, maintenance and operation of company telecommunications equipment and networks. Collaboratively plan the development and installation of new sites and facilities to ensure all technical needs are considered and solutions are developed with multiple purposes in mind. Develop and maintain corporate standards for telecommunications purchases and management. Identify and resolve hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions that are related to the communications infrastructure. Participate in all phases of the client/customer support development life cycle. Manage all telecommunications vendor relationships .

Essential Functions

  • Plans and executes the construction, installation, maintenance and operation of telecommunications systems to support company voice and data communications requirements as well as business continuity initiatives. Manages all telecommunications vendor relationships with a special focus on delivery, cost, and standards
  • Develops, implements and maintains standards-based policies and procedures for installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Executes these policies and procedures as necessary
  • Support mobile device management solutions that enhance organizational initiatives associated with data access and collaboration. Setup and maintain corporate and BYOD-related devices in accordance with established policies. Troubleshoot system related issues. Maintain documentation and provide training for staff and customers as needed
  • Maintains a real-time database of provisioned services related to voice and data communications equipment and services and regularly evaluates opportunities for economical and technical enhancements
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and other operational units within the organization to provide communications solutions
  • Serve as an escalation resource for other system issues reported to the Helpdesk. Document and resolve end user technical problems. Follow-up with customers to ensure appropriate resolutions have been implemented. Create, update and solicit documentation from team members to ensure appropriate knowledge of systems and applications is available, As a knowledge center contributor, introduce efficiencies to support processes and provide customers with self-help resources, as appropriate.
  • Secondary Responsibilities
    • Assist other IT employees working on network configuration
    • Work with staff in all areas of IT, especially with computing architecture groups
    • Perform other job related duties as assigned
    • Bachelor degree in Telecommunications Management, Computer Science, Engineering or other related discipline
    • Network +

      CCNA Voice preferred
    • Minimum of five years of related work experience administering telecommunications solutions in a corporate environment, including provider services procurement lifecycle
    • Five years experience in Cisco network and voice environment
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations relative to the installation and operation of communications systems
    • Network and desktop knowledge and experience including experience with any of the following:
      • Client Server : Windows 2003/08, UNIX
      • Desktop: Windows XP/7, Visio, Project, MS Office Pro 2003/07/10
      • Network Administration: Active Directory, MS Outlook/Exchange
      • Telecommunications: Cisco CallManager & Unity, Blackberry Enterprise Server, AirWatch MDM
    • Occasional travel to visit company locations
    • Dedicated attention to detail
    • Strong time management skills and sense of urgency
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem solve
