Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
Provide administrative support to the Urban Forester, including, but not limited to, corresponding verbally and in writing, taking phone messages, running errands and recording meeting minutes and maintaining other notes.
Assist with tree mitigation inspections by coordinating and scheduling inspections, gathering inspection materials and entering initial inspection reports for review by Urban Forester.
Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for urban forestry services.
Attend Urban Forestry Advisory Board meetings and take minutes.
Maintain and update website with current information by removing old data and adding new information provided by Urban Forester.
Assist Urban Forester with administration of the tree service certification program including planning of annual educational workshop for the private tree service community, keeping records of insurance and current list of certified businesses.
Assist Urban Forester with bid documents for tree planting projects by compiling specifications for review by Urban Forester.
Assist Urban Forester with preparing and conducting training for city staff involved in pruning and removing trees by scheduling trainings, gathering and securing materials, setting up projector and other presentation equipment.
Research grants and other federal and/or state funding sources and seek other methods of financing capital projects.
Assist with the grant applications by compiling background information and completing standard information.
Prepare press releases and public announcements for review and approval.
Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience and/or training.
Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
Must successfully pass criminal background check for felonies, theft offenses and or any conviction, no contest or guilty plea that would qualify to prevent a person from obtaining an Arkansas teaching certificate.
Must be proficient in the use of a computer and other related software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and possess efficient typing skills. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment, digital camera, measuring tape and wheel.
Must be able to use mathematics involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, as well as calculating percentages and ratios.
Ability to occasionally work evenings, as needed, for meetings.
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and communicate effectively. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
