About the Position: This is a Production Assistant, GS-1101-08. This is a term position and may be extended up to a maximum of 4 years. This position is located in the Directorate of Industrial Operations, MRAP Division.

DUTIES:
Independently, or as a team member, serves as a production assistant for a division engaged in the repair, modification and overhaul of Route Clearance and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Tactical Vehicles. Coordinate production programs through support activities, production control and cost center supervisors. Conduct secondary and major items production meetings with appropriate personnel. Briefs division chief on status and recommends course of action for production problem areas. Apprise parts manager of possible schedule slippage due to parts shortage. Track production status, recommend problem solving action and coordinates action with appropriate personnel to meet schedules. Serves as division POC for production status of items in the Vehicle Shops Directorate. Contact appropriate activities to arrange for the movement of production items, supplies, material, etc., to and from designated work areas. Follow up with support activities to insure support items are received on time to meet schedules into work areas and maintains status of items while in maintenance. Control and monitor fabrication requests for this directorate. Compute labor and parts costs when complete and close out fab requests. Monitor manpower, earned hours, expended hours, indirect charges, material cost and work orders with advance status and recommends course of action to supervisor to meet management objective. Review and analyze monthly data on monthly charges to indirect cost codes; discuss with shop supervisors to obtain explanation and insures that corrective action will be taken. Coordinate induction of assets into work areas and maintains status of items while in maintenance. Control and monitors fabrication requests for this directorate. Compute labor and parts costs when complete and closes out fab requests. Serves as division representative as a team member of the Maintenance Directorate Team involved in studying maintenance programs, capabilities, facilities, skills, etc., available for accomplishing long range workloads. Coordinate cost estimates through the directorate. Control and monitor work orders generated and received by the directorate. Resolve labor and time and attendance reporting reconciliation with finance and cost center supervisors. Prepare division monthly manpower reports, plus tracks division personnel on detail, day-to-day loan and borrowed into the division; recommends corrective actions on any manpower imbalance.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-07 in the federal service that demonstrates the following: 1) Skill in the repair, modification and overhaul of Route Clearance and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Tactical Vehicles. 2) Knowledge of production programs, such as materials requirements and movement, monitoring work orders, industrial processes, and coordination of meetings. 3) Knowledge of administrative support such as, time and attendance,scheduled workload, manpower management, budget cost estimates, and travel management. 4) Skill with computer software/systems, such as Microsoft applications, automated time and attendance system, and/or Logistics Management Program (LMP)
