Software System Architect - Journeyman (Job Number: 400328)
SAIC is building a team to provide Enterprise Information Technology (IT) Solutions Sustainment support and the associated management and administration, for the delivery of a combination of hardware infrastructure and application infrastructure necessary to achieve a complete, centralized and elastic environment for Building, Hosting, Integrating, and Managing Web enabled business applications and/or application services to SEC’s Enterprise Solutions Directorate (ESD). This shall be accomplished by using agile development approaches and by integrating different technologies to include both the re-write of legacy systems and the addition of features to existing systems to maximize cost savings, resource utilization and provide a solution to unique Army business application’s hosting and management challenges. This position supports Army Communications Electronic Command (CECOM) SEC ESD.
Provides support for the design, implementation and administration of a Cloud Platform As A Service (PaaS) solution to standardize on enterprise computing platforms focusing on web application standard. Architects iterative and incremental software development, modifications, and updates for ESD systems (i.e. TOPMIS II, WIAS, IPPS-A, et al.) using agile development methodology. Conducts requirements analysis and definition, testing, and support services for automated information systems and software product lines. Supports processes for business case development, architecture development and implementation, and configuration management for software product lines. Performs a variety of analytical tasks and prepares written evaluations and recommendations using government formats. May perform other duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 5+ years experience.
The position requires detailed knowledge of modern processes for software development, modification and updates using high order languages and Agile Development methodologies. Must be capable of translating operational requirements into detailed software/system requirements, including expertise in the development and automatic deployment of applications. Demonstrated skill sets to design, develop, implement, and maintain all appropriate abstracted structures, applications and infrastructure. Understanding of architecture and technology best practices at all appropriate levels of abstraction (e.g. application and desktop virtualization, virtual appliances, web abstraction, multi-tenancy, warehouse grids). Experience maintaining compliance with DoD and Army standards to include Information Assurance and Networthiness.
Must be capable of providing detailed technical support for software development programs with minimal management supervision. Must be capable of integrating COTS products into software/system architectures. Must be able to rapidly understand the use of tools and technologies and integrate them into existing products and processes. Must have knowledge of distributed systems, and issues regarding database replication and distribution for distributed systems. Must be capable of providing technical direction to design and development teams, and monitoring progress and productivity through the use of metrics. Additionally, must have a general understanding of communications protocols, and be able to quickly understand the Army Technical Architecture guidelines. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, to include the ability to work on multi-functional teams, as well as proven verbal and written communications skills. Must have demonstrated ability to lead large (5 or more people) design and development teams, providing them technical direction and monitoring progress through the use of metrics, with minimal management supervision. Must have advanced knowledge of modern software development processes and tools, with repeated track record of applying them to programs.
Positions require active Secret clearance or higher, and DoD 8750 Certification.
Experience in a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 (or better) software development environment. Experience with Cloud Infrastructure As A Service (IaaS) and/or Platform As A Service (PaaS) Implementation.
General understanding or familiarity of the Army Personnel systems (i.e. TOPMIS II, WIAS, IPPS-A), process and/or procedures.
