Howard Community College is seeking a highly motivated, experienced and detail-oriented Registrar.

The position will be responsible for administering the college’s student academic records, credit and noncredit registration, class scheduling, grading, graduation clearance, commencement and veteran’s affairs services.

The successful candidate will gather and analyse student data for internal and external reporting. This position will require the ability to develop queries and reports for the enrollment management team. The Registrar will also work closely with the academic division to develop the academic calendar and will coordinate the campus-wide room scheduling process.

The successful candidate will administer the college’s academic standing, academic amnesty, and registration appeals processes as well as authenticate the student portion of the Academic Affairs and Administrative Information Systems.

The Registrar will be responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, hiring and management related to the Office of Records, Registration and Veterans’ Affairs.

The Registrar will serve as the college’s chief FERPA officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree required.

Prior experience with college records and registration in an administrative capacity, including knowledge of enrollment management policies and strategies, multiple registration systems, state reporting, enrollment verification, graduation clearance degree audit required.

Must possess outstanding leadership skills. Strong background in staff development and training related to areas of responsibility required.

Outstanding decision making, problem solving, organization skills and research abilities required.

The ability to serve as an effective team member is required.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.

Conflict resolution skills required

Strong customer services skills required.

Must have outstanding knowledge of FERPA and ADA and their implications on campus. Must have knowledge of accreditation processes and legal issues with college records.

Outstanding technology skills required including experience with student information systems, online registration systems, communications management, MS Office, querying software, digital imaging along with the ability to seek and implement technological solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Veterans Affairs administration strongly preferred.

Experience managing commencement or other large scale events strongly preferred.


$74,518-$99,109. This position is not eligible for overtime. Plus excellent medical insurances, tuition reimbursement and paid leaves.
