Position is generally scheduled 8am-5pm, Monday - Friday at the Workforce Center in Broomfield.

Position consists of administrative and technical work for the Workforce Center of the Broomfield Health and Human Services Department in the areas of Workforce Investment Act and Wagner Peyser services.

This position is primarily assigned to Business Services but will assist in other program areas as necessary.

The incumbent will perform a variety of employment services duties within the Workforce Center related to training, assessment, referral, program information, case management, and employer outreach under the One-Stop concept.

The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and innovative services. Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions, and external entities.

Maintain confidentiality of information consistent with applicable federal, state, and county rules and regulations. Staff will work as a team to avoid duplication of service and to ensure that client expectations are recognized and resolved thereby minimizing any conflicts.

Position assigned to Business Services is primarily responsible for the following:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide services to the business community in Broomfield which will include business outreach, consultation, and contact management. This position serves as the point of contact for employers and is responsible for oversight of job orders in www.connectingcolorado.com , provision of labor market information, employer events, and general consultation to business as it pertains to employment and hiring. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the design and oversight of the Broomfield Workforce outreach/marketing plan.

Manage workload to achieve departmental goals. Assure that responsibilities are performed in compliance with federal, state and county regulations. Review and research client status to determine eligibility and applicability for available services. Work with various public and private agencies to obtain services for clients. Attend meetings, workshops, and conventions as necessary to keep advised of pertinent new rules, regulations, legislation, and procedures in the field. Develop professional contacts with other departments/divisions and other agencies.

Follow policies, procedures, and standards for efficient and effective operation and maintenance of operations. Keeps advised of the current status of the work of the department as well as of pertinent new rules, regulations, legislation, procedures, and professional developments.

Gather, assemble, and review information necessary to determine eligibility for program services. Provide vocational planning services to clients, interview program applicants, examine records and behavior, assess client employability, administer and interpret vocational tests, develop employability plan, develop training and job opportunities, and assist clients to resolve problems related to training and employment services. Assist clients in job search including making referrals and facilitating job placement. Compile data for special projects or reports, as assigned, ensuring completion by specified deadlines and in accordance with established goals and objectives.

Operate a personal computer and utilize MS Office and other departmental software programs including Job Link System, www.ConnectingColorado.com and employment websites. Operate a motor vehicle in order to attend offsite meetings and travel to various sites within and outside Broomfield.

Identify and recommend improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure functions are efficient and cost effective.

Perform related duties as required.

Duties assigned may vary according to the specific needs of the program and/or the allocation of the workload.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training – High school graduate or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in human resources, public administration, or closely related field preferred.

Experience – Two years of progressively responsible related experience in the area of employment services, career counseling, job training, or human resources. Experience in a Colorado Workforce Center preferred.

OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.

Necessary Special Requirements – Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. Bi-lingual skills including Spanish and mediation skills are an asset. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board; reference checks; background checks including police check, sex-offender registry check, and child support registry; driving check through DMV, polygraph or CVSA; drug screen; and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI.

The noise level in the environment is moderate. Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with the possibility of weekend and evening hours. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time). Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
