JOB TITLE: Chemical/Mechanical/Software Engineering Intern

Under minimal supervision, supports research/scientific/technical/engineering related projects or processes.

Knowledge required to perform at this level is generally acquired by an Engineering student pursuing a degree in an engineering program.

Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision, with expanded knowledge of engineering or scientific processes.

Ability to apply complex engineering or scientific concepts to support department or company projects.

Ability to analyze problems, contribute to decisions, and assist in the design and implementation of solutions to resolve engineering or scientific issues that are intermediate to advanced in complexity.

Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of co-workers and customers, and interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining an appropriate level of persistence when resolving issues.

Ability to communicate effective both verbally and in writing, and accept personal accountability and ownership for actions and decisions.

Requires flexibility to adapt to and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Performs work on specific broad task projects assigned directly by a manager or experienced co-worker. (Work is planned to accomplish project goals and provide experience and familiarization with engineering or scientific processes, independent thinking, and company practices and policies.)

Performs work that is investigative in nature, analyzes data and reports results for various research or projects.

Contacts co-workers, customer or vendors to discuss information or issues related to material properties, and to clarify to obtain additional detailed information.

May perform accurate data entry into computer databases or company files, and interprets and analyzes data to produce reports or summaries.

Develops or participates in developing solutions to problems of intermediate to advanced complexity; interprets, executes and recommends modifications to operating policies where appropriate.

Develops solutions to non-routine problems of intermediate to advanced complexity within area of expertise; employs a positive, proactive and approach to problem solving.

Assignments may require applying advanced engineering or scientific concepts and/or skill(s), as well as further development of these skills.

Requires flexibility to adapt to and a willingness to learn new technologies.
