Position Description

This role is based within the HPE Learning Technology Department.

Background Information:
The Higher Education division in the UK is a highly successful £50m+ business which supports university customers with our range of print and online educational solutions.

Working closely with the Publishing team, Media Production, authors and writers, and the Head of Learning Technology, the Media Editor is responsible for all aspects of planning, specifying, researching, developing, managing and testing of assigned Higher Education elearning projects. Projects will include tutorial and test generator packages, web-based video/audio and assessment-based instructional content and mobile applications. Projects will include those already released with an established user base and new projects at initial concept stage.

The role reports to the Head of Learning Technology.

To research, plan and co-ordinate a number of projects in order to deliver effective elearning products and services which meet the learning outcomes of students in the relevant markets.

Key Accountabilities:
•Researching market needs and technology issues and working with Editorial teams and Media Producers to develop programmes and services consistent with market needs
•Demonstrating new products and prototypes at team/sales meetings and on campus; summarising student/instructor feedback
•Keeping up to date in the field, serving as a technical resource, and providing support to the editorial, marketing and sales teams and customers on new media products
•Co-ordinating content acquisition for media products, including sourcing and commissioning media content authors and co-ordinating book content production schedules with media schedules
•Ensuring an efficient handover to the Media Production team, monitoring schedules and deliverables and managing reviews as needed by the Editorial and Content stakeholders, including accuracy reviews
•Training and developing Media Content Authors
•Overseeing work undertaken by external software development groups, content writers, proofreaders, accuracy checkers, software testing facilities and designers, etc
Key Challenges:
In this role you will be responsible for multiple projects all at different stages in the product development cycle. You will need to highly organised while demonstrating a flexible and creative attitude to problem solving.

•BA/BS degree qualification
Previous Experience
•Related higher education or web publishing experience
•Demonstrable record of accomplishment/experience

•An aptitude for building personal networks and strong working relationships
•Strong interest in higher education, educational trends and instructional technology
