Duties: Cincinnati State Technical and Community College seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position, Instructor of Technical and Professional Writing. This person will teach courses in Technical Writing, Professional Writing and

Business Communications. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the English Composition sequence. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development and review; participate in departmental, division, and college-wide meetings; engage in committee work and service; and fulfill other standard responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members. Candidate must be willing to teach at the Middletown campus, as well as at the Main Campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum delivery, development and review; participate in department, division and college meetings; support the division and college mission.

Participate in appropriate committee work and service as well as participate in the assessment of student learning and the effectiveness of course delivery.

Provide leadership for specific courses and department initiatives.
Develop and review curriculum.
Collaborate with Student Support Services to foster student success,
Serve on department, division, and college committees and participate in college governance.
Participate in peer mentoring program.
Fulfill standard responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in English and Literature, Technical or Professional Writing with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of professional or technical communication or Master's degree in a technical field with technical and professional writing certification from an accredited institution and minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of professional and technical communication.
Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in a community college or university branch campus
Experience using instructional technology in the classroom
Experience in online course and curriculum design
Experience teaching distance education courses
Experience with culturally diverse student populations

Appropriate experience with instructional technology in the classroom environment is required. Experience in curriculum development and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the college are essential.

Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and expertise in the discipline.
Develop student learning outcomes, objectives, assessment indicators, and focused and practical lesson plans for a range of student learning styles and abilities.
Relate and communicate effectively to a diverse student body.
Determine needs of students and match those to course design, assessment techniques, instructional strategies, and teaching tools.
Incorporate a variety of instructional delivery methods into the teaching-learning environment.
Provide frequent and timely feedback to students.
Maintain a positive and supportive climate in the classroom setting with fair treatment and respect for all students.
Plan, design, and deliver curricular offerings that respond to service area, regional, and statewide needs.
Conduct student, course, and program assessments and use quantitative and qualitative data for continuous quality improvements and decision making.
Utilize basic core information management technology (productivity skills); instructional technology (classroom presentation enhancements and course administration); and web-enhanced instructional technology (instructional enhancements through the Internet and the World Wide Web).
Incorporate learning technologies, as appropriate, for maximizing teaching effectiveness and facilitating student learning.
Work collaboratively, professionally, and collegially with colleagues, within the department, the division, and across the college.
Comprehensive understanding of the various mission components of the community college; knowledge of strategic objectives of Cincinnati State and institutional values.
The application should include a written letter of intent, a curriculum vita, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy, a sample syllabus, three classroom writing assignments, and no fewer than three contacts for references. A teaching demonstration will be required of candidates invited to the campus for an interview.

Annual Salary: $57,985
