Child Watch Attendant

As a Child Watch Staff member, you have an opportunity to be a role model for children and in helping to create a safe, fun environment for children to grow. You will work as a team member, supervising children in a drop-in setting, as well as creating an environment that is safe and activity enriching.

Essential Functions:
Actively supervise and participate in the care of children while parents/caregivers exercise.
Create, organize and implement age-appropriate activities for participants monthly as directed by Coordinator/Director.
Use positive, effective, age-appropriate ways of interacting with children.
Report any unsafe conditions, actions, or incidents to the Coordinator/Director immediately.
Set up and maintain play areas, including organization and equipment cleaning.
Keep the Child Watch room clean and all toys stored in their appropriate areas.
Notify the Coordinator/Director of any accident or injury to a child no matter how slight, immediately and complete the appropriate paperwork.
Maintain CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
Participates as a team member in branch and association wide activities.

Qualifications:
This position requires a commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility as well as a commitment to building developmental assets in adults and youth. Certified in CPR and Pediatric First Aid (or certified within 30 days of hire).

Completion of YMCA trainings within 30 days of hire:
Baby care basics
Child abuse prevention

Minimum age of 18.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
