PD and CKD Registered Nurse

Supports and works with the physicians, Nurse Manager, Technical supervisor, RN's, and PCT's in commitment to good nursing care of patients with End Stage Renal Disease

Maintains professional working relationship with patients and delivers pleasant, tactful, and supportive attitude and impartial treatment for all patients

Provides education, training and clinical support for CAPD, CCPD and / or Home Hemodialysis patients

Educator is required to have an in-depth working knowledge Education and/or Experience

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN, AA, diploma); and one year related experience.

Education Module:
Has overall responsibility for monitoring the education module.

Competency:
Has overall responsibility of the competence of staff.

Audits:
Has responsibility to perform complete clinic wide audits in every clinic annually.

Policy and Procedures:
Has responsibility for overall standards in the policy and procedures of the unit and for maintaining them to be along current regulatory standards.

Other:
Educator is required to have an in-depth working knowledge of the interpretive guidelines for ESRD facilities and serve as a resource to all clinical staff of the regulations contained in the interpretive guidelines.

Educator is required to have an in-depth working knowledge of the OSHA regulations and serve as a resource for all clinical staff for OSHA.

Education and/or Experience

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN, AA, diploma); and one year related experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current state Registered Nurse license

Current CPR/AED certification

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Driving

If any driving responsibilities are assigned, employee must be at least 21 years of age, is required to maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history approved by Dialysis Clinic, Inc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must have and maintain Registered Nurse license in that state; and CPR/AED certification

Must have a minimum of 1 year peritoneal dialysis experience

Dialysis Charge Nurse experience preferred

Ability to train other staff members in home therapies

Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program

Must possess and maintain a valid license in Missouri as a Registered Nurse

Must possess and maintain a valid CPR certification

Requirements

CKD-NURSE EDUCATOR-

Summary: The Educator provides initial and ongoing training and education for facility staff

Training:
Provides training (that has been approved by the medical director and governing body of the local facility) to patient care staff according to the corporate education plan.

Provides training (that has been approved by the medical director and governing body of the local facility) to patient care staff according to the corporate education plan which includes responsibility for:

a. Theory classroom training for patient care staff that do not have previous dialysis experience.

b. Reaching milestones with each employee as indicated in the corporate education plan and staying on course with the schedule.

c. Overseeing preceptor progress with employee and reading weekly report of the training progress.

d. Reporting any training issues to the nurse manager and administrator.

e. Ensuring staff are only independently assigned duties that they have been trained to do as indicated on their ticket to safer care.

f. Competency testing employees before making them independent- this includes experienced or inexperienced staff.

g. Teaching preceptors how to perform in that role using the corporate preceptor program before they are allowed to precept.

h. Demonstrating all skills required for the employee before they are sent to a preceptor to practice those skills.

i. Training charge nurses before they are allowed to be in charge using the corporate charge nurse manual.

j. Ensuring mock codes are done quarterly in each clinic.

k. Ensuring fire drills are done in each clinic quarterly.

l. Ensuring CPR training is available and that employees CPR is always current.

m. Ensuring additional training is provided to meet state requirements.

n. Training on any new policy and procedures used in the clinic after they have been approved by governing body.

o. Training post state or federal survey deficiency identification in accordance with the plan of correction submitted.

p. Submitting a report to governing body monthly on employees in orientation, where they are in orientation, and obtaining governing body approval for independence on any employee who has completed orientation. Governing body should review skills checklist and ensure all was completed after sign off by the nurse manager.q. Training new employees on basic MIS skills.Educator is required to have an in-depth working knowledge of the interpretive guidelines for ESRD facilities and serve as a resource to all clinical staff of the regulations contained in the interpretive guidelines and of the OSHA regulations and serve as a resource for all clinical staff for OSHA.
