JOB SUMMARY : Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process as a standard, incorporating elements of holistic family centered care through the collection, verification and organization of data about a patient's health status, planning for care, implementation of the plan and evaluation. Adherence to the Women's and Children's Department Unit Code of Conduct .
OB TRACK: Care of the laboring, ante partum, postpartum, neonatal patients required (at time of hire, or after unit orientation). Ability to circulate for cesarean within six months of hire.
PEDIATRIC TRACK: Care of the neonatal, couplet, and pediatric patient required (at time of hire, or after unit orientation).
EDUCATION : Graduate of professional school of nursing.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY : Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse. BLS certification required.
OB TRACK: requires NRP and STABLE certification within 12 months of hire.
PEDS TRACK: requires NRP, STABLE, and PALS certification within 12 months of hire.
After two years experience the following certifications are strongly encouraged:
OB TRACK: Low-Risk Neonate, Inpatient OB, and/or Fetal Monitoring;
PED TRACK: Pediatric or other NCC certification
Aptitudes : Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
UNIT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: SOS call, Holiday rotation as assigned, Education Quadrant, participation in the Five-Year plan as determined by Unit Council annually.
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
Rotating Shifts may be required.
