The Resource Nurse is an experienced registered nurse who is often the first contact the public has with Shawnee Mission Medical Center. S/he must answer the phone in a timely manner, assess the caller s symptoms and determine the best referral source within the organization based upon her triage disposition. S/he will also initiate appropriate follow-up calls or correspondence for each caller. The Resource Nurse must work closely with the referral specialists as well as other hospital units and departments. Impeccable telephone skills and customer service as well as typing and computer skills are required in addition to at least 5 years of nursing experience (Emergency and/or ambulatory care experience a plus). Qualified candidates must have a current KS RN license. Telephone triage certification preferred.
This position will work 9:30pm to 6:00am varied days per week.
