GENCO a global third party Logistics Company is currently looking for a Procurement Specialist for a Logistics Contract located in Rock Island, IL.
Work involves detailed duties in the requisitioning and purchase of supplies and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Project Manager and requires the use of independent judgment and initiative in the preparation and review of specifications, the receipt of bids or quotations, and the checking of bills, invoices and part or materials against specific requirements. Performance of these duties requires knowledge Government purchasing policy and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews purchase requests for accuracy of description of materials and priority.
Identify vendors or sources of supply and procures material requirements; prepares bid specifications and other necessary documents related to the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment; prepares requisition and/or locates sources of supply, and places orders with appropriate suppliers or vendors.
Negotiates and administers assigned contracts and purchase orders as needed.
Compares costs and evaluates bids for accuracy, cost, lead time, and suitability of supplies, materials and/or equipment.
Establishes relationships and corresponds with vendors to receive estimates, place orders, and check shipment status.
May arrange shipment, pickup, or delivery of orders and final purchasing paperwork with vendors.
Composes correspondence to vendors to resolve procurement issues.
Confers with and assists Project Manager(s) and other project representative to discuss needs and specifications and provide procurement status updates.
Maintains records on purchase price information, obtains quotations on purchases, validates order accuracy upon receipt, and enters material into stock utilizing provided system.
Conducts vendor capability surveys and maintains approved vendor source files.
Performs other duties as required.
Graduation from an accredited college or university or a purchasing certification is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years working in a procurement environment is required. Governmental procurement experience is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures and of the techniques.
Knowledge of sourcing to establish vendor/sourcing accounts and relationships
Ability to analyze supplies and materials to identify sourcing activities
Ability to maintain accurate procurement records.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members.
Knowledge of basic computer operation.
