The Payroll/Benefits Coordinator will prepare and complete payroll processes, process journal entries and maintain/reconcile payroll related ledger accounts. Prepares federal, state and local tax returns and employee W2’s. Enroll and maintain changes to employee benefits participation including health/welfare, pension program, flexible spending, life insurance and voluntary life insurance. In conjunction with Territorial Headquarters and plan administrators, maintains related invoicing processes for entire Division. Administers time clock software. Serves as first level customer service contact for payroll issues, time clock issues, and employee benefits questions/enrollments/eligibility. Assists in other areas of Human Resources and Finance as assigned.
Minimum three years of experience in end-to-end in-house payroll functions: experience transitioning to and administering payroll service processes a definite plus.
Prefer experience in benefits administration including enrollments, changes, qualifying events, and using external benefits vendor sites. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in employee services.
Understanding of pension program and processes: ability to answer first-level(non-fiduciary) pension questions.
Experience in ministerial employee grants/allowances, M1099's imputed income (car), clothing, housing) allowances, a definite plus.
Demonstrated dependabillity and excellent attendance are a must.
Understanding of general Accounting/Finance and Human Resources processes and related laws.
Good working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and relational database software, experience and skills with various payroll software systems (2-3 different systems) required.
Detail oriented, with unquestioned attention to accuracy and confidentiality required a highly organized self-starter with problem-solving and customer service skills: excellent oral and written communication skills and professional polite communication internally and externally.
Degree in Accounting/Finance desirable. CPP, CEBS, CBP or similar payroll and/or benefits certifications a definite plus.
