Neuropsychologist, Lee Memorial Health System, Ft. Myers, FL: Diagnose disorders and study medical, psychological, social, and family histories using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials. Primary responsibilities include diagnosis, treatment planning, behavioral management, and follow-up evaluation. Conduct neuropsychological evaluations for individuals with suspected memory disorders of various etiologies. Primary populations include dementias, mild cognitive impairment, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. Consult reference material such as textbooks, manuals, and journals in order to identify symptoms, to make diagnoses, and to develop approaches to treatment. Responsible for producing comprehensive reports, and reviewing results in feedback sessions with clients. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, and then modify plans and diagnoses as necessary. Develop and implement individual treatment plans specifying type, frequency, intensity and duration of therapy. Counsel individuals and family members regarding problems such as stress and substance abuse in order to modify behavior and/or to improve adjustment. Work closely with other medical professionals in provision of care. Involved in ongoing, multi-site research projects. Responsible for training others in administration of cognitive screening measures. Participate in weekly case conference sessions with other medical professionals. Full time (40 hrs. per week). Minimum Requirements: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology. Foreign educational equivalent acceptable. Psychologist license from the State of Florida Department of Health. Completion of eighteen (18) months of Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at an Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) member site or at a site that meets the Houston Conference criteria for residency education and training in Clinical Neuropsychology. Completion of a 1-year internship in Clinical Neuropsychology at an American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited site pre or post completion of Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree. Completion of a doctoral practicum or externship in memory disorders or dementia pre or post completion of Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree.
