School/Unit Harvard Medical School Sub-Unit New Eng Reg Primate Res Ctr Location USA - MA - Southborough Job Function Finance Time Status Full-time Department HMS NEPRC Salary Grade 055 Union 55 - Hvd Union Cler & Tech Workers Duties & Responsibilities The Financial Coordinator will be part of the Business Office that supports the NEPRC. The position, reporting to the Manager of Research Administration and Accounting, will serve as the financial contact for the Center’s Division of Veterinary Resources and will work with Veterinary Staff, Principal Investigators, Grants Managers and Information Technology to coordinate all financial matters relating to the Veterinary Resources Division.

Specific duties include:
Manage documentation related to the order, scheduling, performance, charging and billing of animal procedures; receive and log all order forms related to animal allocation requests and sample, procedure or exception requests; validate for completeness.

Identify and apply charges based on procedures performed and samples collected with appropriate documentation and validation.

Allocate charges to proper study, assign correct funding source, maintain charge sub-ledger, perform adjustments to sub-ledger as needed (e.g., discounts, corrections, etc.) and generate monthly reports of animal charges for billing and invoicing.)

Coordinate billing of animal charges from external sources, e.g. external lab tests, purchases, and animal shipping.

Work with Center IT to implement a new Medical Records and Billing system

Financial Reporting: Generate reports from PDMS upon request; generate monthly reports of animal charges for billing, issue reports from sub ledger to Center Accounting for invoicing. Basic Qualifications Business degree (BS) with concentration in Accounting preferred (3-5 years minimum). Ability to work independently, efficiently and maintain a professional manner relating to highly confidential information; ability to set priorities; proficiency with Excel required; Demonstrated ability to use multiple accounting systems and databases, Oracle financial systems and other accounting software applications Additional Qualifications Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team; Strong attention to detail; Possess ability to identify process improvements relating to the role; ability to work well with others in a customer-service environment; strong written and oral communication skills. Additional Information This position requires the completion of a satisfactory health screening clearance prior to the start of employment.
