For more information, visit SAIC: From Science to Solutions® JOB DESCRIPTION: A research scientist is sought to undertake research on issues to advance the assimilation of infrared (IR) radiance data from satellites in operational meteorological assimilation systems.

The successful candidate will undertake developments in the GEOS atmospheric data assimilation system being developed and used in the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. Research areas include the assimilation of cloud and rain-affected radiances in the IR bands, and the improvement of the use of moisture channels in hyperspectral instruments. In addition to collaborating with scientists at Goddard, the successful applicant will collaborate with operational partners in the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation as well as external scientists.
