Associated Grocers of New England, Inc., the largest independently owned grocery wholesaler in New Hampshire, is currently searching for a Retail Bookkeeping Manager . This position will d irect and coordinate account activities for the retail bookkeeping operations of AGNE. Manage and oversee related financial activities to include analysis, reporting, budgets and inventory control. Uphold the highest customer service standards.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES § Prepare financial statements and budget reports for department use and company management. Develop projections and analysis with recommendations and conclusions for management.

§ Supervise and provide leadership for the department staff,which includes work allocation, training and problem resolution. Evaluates perfomance and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

§ Supervise the processing, payment and auditing of retail accounts including accounts payable,bank statements, general ledger, collections, aged accounts and related activities in order to reconcile accounts and prepare financial reports.

§ Responsible for problem resolution and enhancing the performance of the operating procedures and policies to enhance and improve fiscal/accounting procedures.

§ Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure accomplishment of established goals in the short and long term.

§ Oversees the maintenance of department records and the generation and balancing of transaction reports.

§ Develops annual operating budget and provides fiscal direction to the department.

§ Interacts with vendors, customers and internal departments for information and problem resolution.

§ Oversees purchase and sale of inventory for retail operations.

§ Ensures records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting and auditing standards.

§ Performs other duties as assigned or required.


§ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related.

§ Three to five years related accounting experience.

§ Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.

§ Knowledge of finance, bookkeeping, accounting, budgeting and cost control procedures.

§ Knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections.

§ Excellent customer service skills
