Responsible for performing functions to successfully
manage all aspects of Iron Mountain’s business lines
within the assigned market. The General Manager as the
business owner of the market has responsibility for
driving Revenue Management, Operational Excellence and
Total Customer Satisfaction (TCS) within the specific
market. Provides leadership on all aspects of operations
issues and partners with other functions to coordinate
strategic selling efforts for the market.
Operational Excellence, Standards & Compliance – Review
and analyze activity to understand resource allocation,
business capacity, challenges and opportunities. Ensure
safety & security procedures are followed and understood
by team. Ensure the quality of service is continuously
improving. Partner with GM, Transportation to drive
performance overall for market. Responsible for
semi-annual self-audits for market. Participate in
audits from the Internal Audit group and show continuous
improvement. Responsible for response and all action
items noted as discrepancies.
Financial Oversight – Manage financial performance of
market by analyzing trends, monitoring P&L, and
developing appropriate plans. Manage against annual
operating and capex budgets that are consistent with
market strategy. Manage rack and capacity utilization.
Assist in pricing and structuring deals to acquire new
business with the objectives of maintaining a high rate
of growth, increasing market share, and improving
profitability by achieving operating leverage.
Revenue Management – Drive revenue growth for market by
partnering with Sales/Account Management team in
developing, identifying and implementing marketing and
selling strategies. Partner with Account Management to
ensure SLA’s are met. Develop relationships with top
customers in market (strategic, multi-city and large
Local). Develop and implement price increases on field
book of business.
Human Resources/Workforce Leadership – Responsible for
recruitment and development of talent within market.
Manage turnover to an acceptable level. Drive annual
review process adhering to timeline and budget
guidelines. Overall responsibility for employee
relations, counseling, and performance management for
market. Interface with employees on a regular basis in
roundtables, staff meetings and one on ones. Act as a
change agent within market. Communicate key company and
market updates to the team. Ensure Iron Mountain’s core
values are upheld throughout the market providing
necessary leadership and focus to the frontline
workforce. Foster and promote a positive work
environment for all employees.
Account Executive Sponsorship – Work closely with Sales
on opportunities and removing obstacles to expedite
revenue generation. Develop and maintain key external
relationships with trade associations (i.e. ARMA, AIM),
customers and competitors. Drive initiatives within
market. Participate in tactical Acquisitions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Leadership: This role will provide leadership over all
aspects of Iron Mountain's business lines assigned
markets. Ensure Iron Mountain's core values are upheld
throughout the market. Responsible for setting vision,
tone, and culture for the Market. Responsible for
driving initiatives and new products/services within
- 5 years experience managing/leading in a customer
focused service industry
- Pervious experience in a Matrix Management
- Strong P&L experience of similar scope and size
- Ability to work with all levels of organization
- Previous experience managing client accounts,
developing client relationships and maintaining a
high degree of client retention.
Problem Solving: The GM is responsible for quality of
service and trade off between performance and economics.
Responsible for handling various situations such as:
Customer Related Issues, Service Issues, market issues
and Human Resources Issues. Responsible for driving
economic performance of market and making changes to
ensure success. Responsible for forecasting activity and
Nature of Impact: The GM has the ability to increase
performance through leverage of labor, driving price and
driving growth. Ability to drive top line revenue and
bottom line profit. Ability to develop members of team
to be promoted or take additional responsibility.
Ability to communicate all products and services to
internal and external customers.
