The City of Davenport is currently seeking dynamic individuals to fill our seasonal positions in the Aquatic Division for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Examples Of Duties:

AQUATIC FACILITY MANAGER : $12.00 - $15.00 per hour, under the direct supervision of the Facility Operations Manager, is charged with responsibility to enforce all rules, regulations and policies set forth by Davenport Parks and Recreation, Scott County Health Department, and the State of Iowa Health Department. Ensures that records pertinent to the operation of the pool are properly and accurately maintained. Establishes all duty and hour schedules for the assigned aquatic staff. Conducts in-service training programs for the staff assigned to the pool and conducts emergency standard operation procedures. Possess ability to learn and understand the principles of recirculation, filtration, chlorination of an aquatic facility. CPR/AED - Community, Standard First Aid, CPO - recommended, Lifeguard Training - recommended.

ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER : $8.50 - $10.00 per hour, under the direct supervision of Aquatic Facility Manager; directly responsible for lifeguard conduct, tour of duty, area assignment, rotation, and breaks. Take all precautions and preventive action necessary to ensure the safety of the general public and pool staff from accidents or drownings. Administer first aid to injured or distressed guests and seek medical care for those seriously injured. Conduct in-service training programs for staff assigned to the pool and conduct emergency standard operation procedures. Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Standard First Aid.

CASHIER: $7.25 - $8.00 per hour, collect pool admissions and swim lesson fees. Perform daily clean-up duties to keep immediate area surrounding cashier's station and pool entrance. Keep an accurate record of daily attendance, pool fees, swim lesson registration, and pool discount booklets. Knowledgeable of all aquatic programs available at your designated pool. Familiarized with other city of Davenport pool managers and telephone numbers for the public's information referral. Required to participate in various in-service training programs, facility emergency procedures, first aid, and CPR skills. Required certifications: CPR/AED – Community, Standard First Aid

DECK STAFF/SHALLOW WATER GUARD : $7.25 per hour, ensure the safety of the patrons on the deck and in the shallow water areas of the facility. Observes and enforces all rules and regulations of the aquatics facility. Keeps deck and grass area picked up and in order. Enters into all cleanup assignments as assigned. Administers first aid to injured or distressed guests and seek medical care for those seriously injured. Required to participate in various in-service training programs, facility emergency procedures, first aid, and CPR skills. Teaches swim lessons in the Learn-To-Swim program as assigned by the Learn-To-Swim supervisory team. Basic Water Rescue, CPR/AED - Community and First Aid.

HEAD LIFEGUARD: $8.00 - $9.00 per hour, during the absence of the Assistant Manager or Aquatic Facility Manager; directly responsible for lifeguard conduct, tour of duty, area assignment, rotation, and breaks. Ensure the safety of the guests; includes accident prevention in the water and the surface surrounding the pool deck and the rescue and care of accident victims. Administer first aid to injured or distressed guests and seek medical care for those seriously injured. Participate in all in-service training programs. These programs include practice of swimming, facility emergency procedures, water rescue, CPR, and first aid skills. Maintain the pool, deck area and bathhouse in a clean and sanitary condition at all times. Teaches swim lessons in the Learn-To-Swim program as assigned by the Learn-To-Swim supervisory team. Lifeguard Training CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Standard Aid.

LEARN-TO-SWIM COORDINATOR : $7.50 - 9.00 per hour, under the direct supervision of the Athletics/Aquatics Recreation Supervisor or their designee, organizes and schedules Learn-To-Swim classes and assigns instructors and aides for three sessions. Monitors the progress of students and performance of instructors on a daily basis and supervises final (pass/fail) testing of students. Ensures that records relative to the operation of the Learn-To-Swim staff. Assist with registration sign-up periods, schedules staff assistance, receives and reports revenue, and communicates with parents in selection and information of the Learn-To-Swim classes. Responsible for onsite registration and supervision of cashier during registration process. Coordinates with Learn-To-Swim Specialist in-service training sessions to assist instructors and aides in American Red Cross and City of Davenport Parks and Recreation's guidelines for teaching the Learn-To-Swim program. Ensures the City of Davenport Parks and Recreation's rules, regulations, and policies are enforced. Administers first aid and seeks medical care for injured participants. Required to participate in various in-service training programs, facility emergency procedures, water rescues, first aid, and CPR/AED skills. W.S.I, Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

LIFEGUARD: $7.50 - $8.50 per hour, ensure the safety of the guests; includes accident prevention in the water and the surface surrounding the pool deck and the rescue and care of accident victims. Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the aquatic facility. Participate in all in-service training programs. These programs include practice of swimming, facility emergency procedures, water rescue, CPR, and first aid skills. Maintain the pool, deck area and bathhouse in a clean and sanitary condition at all times. Perform rescues, artificial respiration, CPR/AED, administers first aid as needed to injured guests. Teaches swim lessons in the Learn-To-Swim program as assigned by the Learn-To-Swim supervisory team. Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Standard First Aid, WSI - Recommended.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR : $7.25 per hour, instructs American Red Cross courses to equip students with basic water skills and knowledge in order to make them safe, in, on, or about the water. Prepares and completes all course records and documentation required by the Aquatic Division and American Red Cross. Administers first aid to students when necessary. Attend and participate in in-service meetings related to the Learn-To-Swim program training. Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of an aquatic facility. W.S.I., CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training.

Qualifications:

Must pass police background check and pre-employment physicals if applicable.

Must be at least 15 years of age by the time of hire to apply.
