Adult Division - Various Locations
Per Diem

SUMMARY: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced LVN to provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care and crisis residential counseling services to adults with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse.

Note: This position is per diem and you should have some open availability during the week to provide nursing services.


Assures that medications including samples, as ordered, are accurately stored, transcribed, tracked & monitored on medication administration records (MARs), working as liaison with pharmacy providers.

Provide long-acting injections during outpatients visits and monitor for any medication side effects.

Review and educate clients regarding their medication regime and assist with pill boxes as needed.

In coordination with program director, prepares education materials for client/staff training and presentation on formal & ad hoc bases (e.g. psychotropic medications, infection control, nutrition, diabetes, TB, AIDS, hepatitis, safer sex, wellness, etc).

Provides TB tests to patients & staff as needed.

Reviews & follows up lab results, working as liaison between the agency & lab provider.

Helps M.D. complete physician’s report, providing ad hoc patient assessments or follow-up as needed.

Provides crisis intervention and facilitates conflict resolutions among the program clients.

Attends and actively participates in treatment team meetings, providing consultation regarding medical and health maintenance issues in treatment planning.

Leads or co-leads group therapy as assigned.

Works with Program Director to devise, revise & maintain appropriate policies & procedures.

li>Licenced Vocational Nurse (LVN). Bilingual Preferred.

Experience preferred, in inpatient, outpatient or residential settings. Experience with adult and family a plus.

Good psychiatric diagnostic skills, ability to communicate well orally, in writing and electronically, ability to respond to crises and complaints competently and diplomatically, and up to date knowledge of current psychopharmacology.

Primarily weekday schedule, but may require evening, weekend, or on-call hours as needed.

Must be able to show proof of CA drivers insurance at the minimum levels required by the Agency.

Knowledge and use of: sphygmomanometer, scales, stethoscope and syringes, computer, calculators, fax machines, telephone, pager and other equipment as required.
