Systems Administrator – Linux. The successful candidate will join a team responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of a growing infrastructure of Linux servers at Intermountain Healthcare. This candidate must be a self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
Support and maintain Linux servers, including evening and weekend work

Participate in developing strategies to maximize the 24/7/365 availability of critical online information systems

Provide direction, assistance, cross-training and troubleshooting insights to co-workers

Capacity planning, system design, planning and implementation

Hardware, OS, network and application level troubleshooting

System and network-level performance monitoring/tuning

Responsible for server deployments, which include application binaries, operating system updates and security patches

Prepare and implement proper procedures and service level agreements to ensure optimum system integrity and data availability

This position will work with confidential and proprietary information that requires a signed IT Employee Invention and Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Information Systems area -OR- four or more years of work experience as an administrator in a production enterprise system environment. Intermountain Healthcare verifies both degree attainment and educational institution accreditation following an offer of employment.

Three or more years of experience as a Unix/Linux systems administrator in a production enterprise system environment

Experience with RAID concepts, Enterprise Tape Libraries, and Storage Area Networks (SAN)

Shell/Perl scripting experience

Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Ability to evaluate, create or update Standard Operation Procedures and participate in policy creation and maintenance

Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a Solaris or AIX systems administrator

Experience with system monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Nagios, IBM Director, HP Openview, CA)
