Job Description:
THE YMCA OF GREATER SEATTLE

GENERAL FUNCTION
Prepares for and provides high quality programs and
classes for the Y. U. LEARN Academic Enrichment Program.
Part of team that provides academic instruction and
enrichment activities.
KNOW-HOW
Current Washington State Teaching Certificate in Math,
Language Arts or K-8. Three or more years of experience
teaching and/or working with youth programs. Knowledge
of innovative, student-centered, cross cultural
curriculum design. Demonstrated ability to communicate
effectively with economically disadvantaged and minority
youth. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience
with, diverse populations (language, culture, race,
physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to
speak any language in addition to English may be
helpful. CPR and First Aid certifications. Ability to
respond to safety and emergency situations.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
1. Prepares for and provides instruction to 6th and 7th
graders in the areas of language arts, math, and
reading, including selecting materials and maintaining
student records.
2. Provides leadership and support for assigned
enrichment programs in Y. U. LEARN program.
3. Attends and participates in all training and planning
activities.
4. Is an active member of staff team designing and
delivering high quality academic enrichment program.
5. Provides all documentation and evaluation, such as
end of summer reports, as required.
6. Provides for upkeep of program sites and equipment.
Ensures that program standards are met and safety
procedures are followed. Assures compliance with state
and local regulations.
