This is a specialized service position working in the Adolescent Center unit of the County's Family and Children’s Section. Employees are selected by the Superintendent of the center, and work under relatively strict guidelines as specified in State Statutes in supervising and monitoring the activities of Children that reside in the center, and in directly implementing the program as outlined in the Operations Manual and in compliance with H.S.S. 59 AND H.F.S. 34.

Stand-By Adolescent Center Workers will also be trained to fill-in in the Juvenile Detention Facility (JDF). A JDF differential of $6.00/hr is added to the Adolescent Center Worker hourly rate for those hours worked in the JDF.

Hours of Work: The Adolescent Center and the Juvenile Detention Facility are 24-Hr. Operations and Stand-By workers will be asked to fill-in in either facility whenever a need occurs, which could be on any shift and could be any day of the week including weekends and holidays. Shift differentials are paid for 2nd ($0.30/hr) and 3rd ($0.40/hr) shifts.

Hiring Plan: Currently we have opportunities for two persons to be hired into the Stand-By classification. Persons in Stand-By classifications may be considered for future part-time opportunities - so if you have an interest in advancing to a part-time position, this may be an entry opportunity for you! We will also be developing an eligibility list to fill future Stand-By classifications as they become vacant.

Training, Experience and Other Requirements:

• Graduation from high school or GED.

• Preference given for advanced education in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or human services or related field.

• Previous work experience with juvenile delinquents, youth in crisis, corrections, alternative care, children with special needs, foster care, human services or similar facility.

• Be certified or willingness to attain certification for Crisis Support under HFS 34 WI State Statues.

• Valid driver's license required if performing driving duties.

• Verification of previous employment per Wisconsin Statutes.

• Must be able to administer CPR from a kneeling position.

• Must be able to Wear Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

• Successful completion of reference check, criminal background check and physical requirements acceptable to the State Training and Standards Bureau.

• Must be available to work all shifts and remain on the unit for 8 hours without leaving.
