First Line Supervisor to Corrections Officers. This classification is responsible for directing officers in custody and security activities in a secure Level I facility, to ensure the safety of prisoners, staff, and the public. Responsible for assigning and leading an emergency response squad. Provide leadership during critical incidents, review prisoner major and minor misconducts, and mediate conflicts between staff and prisoners. Ensure that Department of Correction’s policies, procedures, rules and facility operating procedures are adhered to. Ensure health, safety, sanitation and fire safety mandates are enforced and followed.

Required Education and Experience:

Completion of 15 semester (23 term) credits in one or a combination of the following areas: correctional administration, criminal justice, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, counseling and guidance, educational psychology, family relations, pastoral counseling, or law enforcement.

Two years of experience equivalent to a Corrections Officer, Corrections Transportation Officer, Corrections Medical Aide, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer.
