The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing senior level administration and support of the core Linux environment. Primary duties include:
Support the core Linux environment. This includes the administration, design, documentation and troubleshooting of the core Linux server infrastructure, communications network and, software environment.
Participate in network management and maintenance. This includes the management of BigIP load balancers and email delivery systems.
Establishing business continuity standards. This includes the creation of backup and recovery standards and the creation of server/network redundancy standards.
Developing and curating working relationships with business channels. This includes the daily involvement with the technology operations unit of each business channel. Assisting in systems design and deployment for new and existing custom software solutions
Additional duties include:
Establishing and managing development environments for software engineers, including creation of environments and installation of software.
Being “on-call” 24/7, to respond immediately to any system failures within a rotating schedule.
Assist developers in troubleshooting issues related to performance of custom designed software.
Research and plan for future expansion, including software and hardware technologies.
Assist with the troubleshooting of network and office administration technologies.
Assist in maintaining hardware infrastructure including datacenter management.
The successful candidate must:
Posses a minimum of 5 years experience as a Linux system administrator in a high-demand, 24x7 production environment running SuSE, Red Hat, or CentOS
Performed at least 3 years of installing, configuring and tuning high-demand load-balanced web server clusters with Apahce, PHP, and Virtual Hosting
Have at least 3 years experience managing a diverse enterprise DNS system on a Linux platform.
Highly proficient with scripting in BASH, Perl and any other scripting language.
Demonstrable knowledge of high performance Linux system tuning.
Hands on experience with backup and recovery in an enterprise environment, including installation, configuration and file recovery.
Daily experience in installation and maintenance of critical monitoring systems (Cacti, Nagios, etc.) in an enterprise environment.
Experience with VMWare preferred.
General familiarity with SMTP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, GRE), transfer technologies (SSH, SCP, rsync), Amazon EC2, VMWare, SAN
