Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules.

This position is a Human Services Specialist with the Department of Health and Human Services . We are looking for employees who can help us to provide services to promote healthy people and healthy communities.

For this position we offer yearly benefits , which include:
A contribution of $8,796/year towards health, life, dental, and optional vision insurance;

Significant travel is required for management evaluation purposes. This position may be located in a variety of offices around the state, but Helena is the preferred location.

Duties:
This position is responsible for: 1) Reviewing field case files for correct application of policy through a management evaluation process; 2) Actively participating in new eligibility system development and on-going eligibility system maintenance; 3) Developing and providing training for specific programs; and 4) Researching and responding to program related inquiries from the public, government entities and other stakeholders.

Competencies:Required for the first day of work:
Knowledge of Public Assistance programs including: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility, Medicaid eligibility, and WoRC;

Skilled in the use of the TEAMS and CHIMES programs;

Written and oral communication skills;

Ability to solve complex problems;

Ability to interact professionally with management, unit members, field staff, and others;

Organizational skills and ability to set priorities appropriately.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in human services, public administration, education, accounting, business or technology related field;

Three years experience with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
