Our General Service Tire Technician position is the perfect starting point for an automotive repair career. The General Service Technician provides general services for vehicle maintenance and repair, such as oil changes, tire rotation and replacement, etc., and does so in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. Under the guidance of an Auto Service Technician, the General Service Tech assists in vehicle repairs, operates vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, and interacts with customers in a courteous and friendly manner. He/She assists in maintaining shop condition/appearance, practices safety procedures, promotes shop policies, and follows environmental rules. In addition, he/she also helps ensure the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions.
The ideal General Service Technician has a high school diploma/GED, an affinity for automotive maintenance/repair, an unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record, and a strong desire to learn and grow with our business. Previous experience, while desirable, is not required. The General Service Technician will participate in computer-based and facilitated learning sessions, as well as on-the-job training to gain knowledge and build experience. It is expected that the general Service Tech will advance within the organization by pursuing one or more ASE certifications, while taking advantage if our internal training opportunities.
The following is a representative list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Change oil and perform minor maintenance/repair tasks as assigned
-- Mount, balance, repair and replace tires
-- Expertly check all fluids and maintenance-related parts and top-off or replace fluids or filters/parts as required
-- Possess an increasingly broad knowledge of how vehicles' complex components work and interact
-- Perform routine visual inspections, test, change engine oil/filter, lubricate chassis, and other major components
-- Drive vehicles in and around the premises as needed
-- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies in the automotive industry
-- Perform routine vehicle servicing activities as directed
-- Know and adhere to safety and environmental standards for maintenance/repair facilities
-- Stock and maintain our stores.
