Summary :
The Cardiac Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for all X-ray related functions including quality control and routine equipment maintenance. This position requires "cross-training" to perform other clinical duties as related to all aspects of the procedures performed in the Cardiac Catherization Laboratory. Additional cross-training in other vascular areas (special procedures) is also required.
Job Duties :
Maintains and is responsible for all radiographic equipment.
Maintains and monitors dosimetry badges on a monthly basis.
Performs technical support junctions in other vascular imaging areas such as special procedures or other endo-vascular procedure areas.
Coordinates effective handling of emergencies arising from contrast media reactions, seizures, cardiac arrests, etc.
Recognizes and reports on EKG, oximetry, blood pressure and other physiologic parameters during various radiological procedures.
Documents patient care (pre and post-procedure) given and the patient's response to care.
Qualifications :
AART registered radiologic technologist with current state license.
Minimum of three years experience as a Special Procedures Technologist.
Previous Cardiac Catherization experience preferred.
Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
BLS and ACLS Certification required.
Physical Demands :
Must be able to stand, walk, talk and sit most of the time.
Must be able to use hands to finger, grasp, and feel.
Ability to lift more than 100 lbs, with assistance, on occasion.
Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to wear lead apron (7-10 lbs) 4-6 hours/day.
Must be able to wear mask 2-4 hours/day.
Must be able to wear glasses or goggles 2-4 hours/day.
Must be able to clearly recognize alarms, understand and follow calls and instructions.
Work Environment :
Must be able to work where toxic chemicals are present, on occasion.
Hospital setting with varying degrees of noise level and activity.
