Must demonstrate strong analytical skills, initiative, values, written and oral communications. 1 to 2 years of EHS experience.
Experience in 6 Sigma, Caterpillar Production System, or related industrial production systems (TPS, DPS, etc.) Previous experience in warehouse or factory operations management; New facility start up experience; Bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational safety, or related field.
Posting is to fill an EHS Senior Associate for the new Spokane Distribution Center which is scheduled to go-live in the third quarter of 2012. The facility will be the third new start-up in the Modernized Caterpillar Parts Network. The facility will be a 550,000 square foot operation with approximately 100 hourly associates. The three operations staff will be a critical part of a team chartered to implement a Best in Class culture and safety based on the Values and CPS. EHS associate will be responsible for delivering on challenging PQVC metrics based goals and will perform inspections and tests planned to provide experience and familiarization with company operations, specific EHS issues and regulations, and company practices. EHS associate will also collect and evaluate data, identify problem areas, develop solutions, and deliver training. Travel will be required as needed especially prior to go-live.
EHS Senior Associates are expected to be familiar with the company's processes and methodologies. Decisions on routine, limited risk issues that may affect the facility may be made by this position. Challenges include meeting expectations in delivering results, learning to consider alternative courses of actions, making timely decisions and developing communication skills. They will be expected to apply theory and concept in the assigned area. EHS Senior Associates must build an understanding of how and why decisions are made within their work group and organization. They may be responsible for applying those decisions to design, development or maintenance of a process, analysis of data or test results, application of a system, etc.
The EHS Senior Associate will implement and manage environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) programs for the Spokane facility. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: (1) - hazard identification, evaluation, and control, (2) - accident/injury prevention and investigation including RCCA & OSHA recordkeeping, (3) - hazardous materials/waste management including shipping regulations, and (4) - regulatory required training including powered industrial trucks.
