The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to protect Idaho through safety, accountability, partnerships and opportunities for offender change
The current opening is located at Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI) in Boise, Idaho. Hiring lists may be created from open competitive, IDOC Promotional or Statewide Promotional applicants or for future vacancies at IDOC only in the Boise area for Food Service Supervisor, Correction. As a Food Service Supervisor you will supervise and instruct staff and inmates in food handling, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, safety, and storage. Responsibilities:
Interviews, hires, determines work priorities, problem-solves, and evaluates performance of staff and/or inmates
Schedules work time for shift coverage
Ensures compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and security regulations
Prepares reports and correspondence
Reviews logs and documentation for proper completion
Maintains inventory of food, supplies, keys, knives, and equipment, and orders food and related kitchen items
Recommends procedures for kitchen operations in line with laws, rules, regulations, and Department policies and directives
Ensures the efficient and operational effectiveness of the facility food service operations per guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of supervisory practices
Some knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling practices of an institutional food service operation
Experience preparing and serving large volumes of food in an institutional setting
Some knowledge of the principles of nutrition and dietetics
Experience using Excel to generate reports, OR have completed a word processing, spreadsheet or database class within the last two years which included Excel Hiring information:
To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
Having a history of law-abiding behavior
Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment

Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who:
Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists
Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
