Under close supervision of a department supervisor, performs a variety of routine cleaning tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical effort. Maintains assigned work area and equipment in an orderly and sanitary condition at all times. Removes trash, linen and biohazard waste from areas throughout the facility. Accountable for keeping the stairway, elevator tracks and soiled utility rooms clean.

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding personal, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of SouthCrest Hospital. Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and SouthCrest Hospital. Must report hazards and initiate appropriate action. Must participate in safety instructional programs.

Follow and maintain documentation of duties performed daily. Follow policies and procedures for loading and stocking housekeeping cart. Maintain proper stock of supplies in areas assigned. Follow policies and procedures on patient room cleaning, office cleaning, bathroom cleaning, and other miscellaneous area cleaning. Be able to read and understand MSDS sheets for all chemicals used. Must be able to pick up and properly dispose of trash, soiled linen and biohazard waste. Must be able to perform minimal floor maintenance including dust mopping and wet mopping.

High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.

Must have effective oral/written communication skills. Possesses ability to maintain effective working relations with the public. Ability to operate housekeeping equipment. Work is moderately heavy, involving lifting up to 50#, considerable walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing. Accountable for the removal of soiled laundry, trash and biohazard waste through out the facility.

Valid driver’s license, if needed.
