  • Do you picture yourself at the center of a team of professionals focused on enhancing our patients’ experiences? Do you like to go above and beyond to make someone feel comfortable and cared for? We are currently recruiting an experienced Nurse for the position of Transition Nurse and would like to hear about how your experience and skills would be a good fit for this position.

The Transition Nurse will report to the Cardiac Pulmonary Care Unit, but work with all units in the hospital with a heavy emphasis on transporting patients from the Emergency Department who are being admitted to our hospital. It will be the responsibility of the Transition Nurse to use discretion as to when the patient should be transported and to communicate directly with the receiving unit. Our primary focus outside of patient safety is to make our patients feel that we have time for them and that we are prepared to receive them. The Transition Nurse will be integral in making everyone feel welcome at our hospital.

When not admitting patients, the Transition Nurse will be asked to work with all clinical areas and to help out where needed. By default this is a quality control and assurance position. It is the responsibility of this Nurse to identify areas for improvement

Qualified applicants will be patient advocates with at least 3 years experience, will hold a current State of Maine RN license as well as current BLS & ACLS certifications, and will have excellent communication skills both clinically as well as when speaking with co-workers and to the general public.
