Nielsen is seeking a Sr. Project Manager for the Converged Product Line (CPL) initiative. This program is intended to re-platform a suite of applications, which enable the Claritas business and support Location, Consumer, and Market Analytics. The objectives of this program are:
Protect and enable business growth by creating a streamlined user experience across all Claritas analytics products
Achieve productivity / efficiency gains from streamlining processes through technology solutions.
Shorten the life-cycles of all custom analytics, and thereby deliver client satisfaction and incremental revenue
Reduce technology risks within the core business platforms and establish a foundational platform to enable future growth
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and delivery of several work streams within the CPL program. The position will have heavy interaction with the Product Engineering Development team to manage the overall schedule and delivery of CPL functionality. The position is responsible for reporting accurate status, mitigating risks and resolving issues to maintain the overall health of the project. The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for maintaining an up to date project plan to ensure the CPL requirements are implemented on schedule.
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the following:
Coordinate with all stakeholders and dependent projects to develop detailed project schedules.
Build and maintain accurate project plan to ensure successful delivery of approved business functionality
Coordinate cross-functional team to reach agreement on scope, approach, assumptions, dependencies, risk and budget.
Facilitate meetings to decompose scope into project tasks and deliverables
Ensure that project plans meet over project timelines and budget constraints
Manage approved projects through the lifecycle, including change requests, issues management, risk management
Maintain accurate status report for assigned work streams
Facilitate status calls with team members to track action items and critical path issues.
Coordinate with other project managers to identify dependencies
Identify and resolve resource conflicts and any slippage in schedule
Identify and resolve critical issues with urgency; Clearing roadblocks for the Development team
Facilitate project meetings to resolve risks, issues, or requests for scope change
Maintain up to date issue log
The Sr. Project Manager requires the following qualifications:
6+ years of software project management experience on large projects ($4M+, 30+ developers)
Flexibility to travel at least once a month
Experience working with remotely located teams (onshore and offshore) in a matrix organization
Experience working in a structured software development life cycle
Experience leading and facilitating technical meetings
Strong leadership capabilities to manage remote or indirect resources
Strong communication and problems solving skills required
Innovative leader with strong facilitation and influencing skills
Proven record to deliver results on time
The ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively in both verbal & written communications
Exercise initiative, discretion and judgment in making decisions.
Respond effectively to individuals and promote understanding and partnership among them.
Expertise in the ability to facilitate communications between different managers and different departments to resolve issues.
Strong planning and logistical capabilities
Bachelor of Science degree with preferred major in statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, economics or other quantitative major
