Quality Assurance Specialist:
The employee operates as a full performance, journey-level employee in the Quality Assurance (QA) field. He/she performs technical inspection and test assignments in support of Airborne Instrumentation Systems Division (AISD) programs and projects. The position is located
Duties and responsibilities:
The employee will work directly with program and project managers, engineers, technicians, Configuration Management (CM) and other QA to develop quality assurance plans and procedures to ensure all products and services meet stringent AISD QA and CM policies. The employee routinely performs process and inspections of products and services in accordance with AISD QA and CM policy and procedures. He/she will monitor fabrication, testing and documentation of products and services to ensure conformance to AISD QA and CM policy and procedures and specifications required. He/she will analyze and investigate adverse quality trends and/or conditions recommending and implementing corrective actions required. The employee is expected to participate in definition of assignments, determine approaches from a wide range of alternatives, and identify and assemble required resources. He/she is responsible for planning and organizing the work, coordinating with staff and line management personnel, and interpreting regulations with minimal guidance. The employee informs the supervisor of potentially controversial issues or problems. The supervisor reviews completed work for adherence to guidelines, compatibility with organizational goals, and attainment of objectives.
Experience and Training:
The work requires extended technical training and experience in the quality assurance and inspection technical fields which have resulted in a complete grasp of specialized and complex subject matter in which the incumbent is considered a technical resource within the work group. He/she must have experience working in aviation maintenance facilities and a working knowledge of Naval aircraft maintenance management instructions, processes, and procedures. Guidelines may be nonexistent and the specialist may be required to develop new methodology and procedures which extend existing knowledge and result in methods and procedures for others to follow.
He/she will be required to maintain a secret clearance.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school
Work experience in industrial or military aviation safety preferred.
