ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT FOR CURRICULUM

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Superintendent for Curriculum is responsible for the development of principles and guidelines that support the implementation of the New York State Common Core Learning Standards in the Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn. This individual will also provide consultation services that are necessary to accomplish the implementation of the learning standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Partial List):
•Coordinate the development and/or renewal of Pre-K - 8 curriculums in all subject areas including: Religion/Faith Formation, Math, and English Language Arts. Languages Other Than English, Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, Health, Technology
•Provide ongoing guidance/direction on the implementation of curriculum to elementary schools and support, as needed, to secondary schools.
•Provide opportunities for teacher professional growth in the support of the curriculum through the planning of content area workshops.
•Provide in-service trainings to schools at faculty meetings, professional days and cluster days upon request.
•Work with the Deputy Superintendent and the Director of Faith Formation to ensure the infusion of Catholic values in Pre-K to 8 curriculums in all subject areas.
•Work with the Deputy Superintendent and the Director of Faith Formation as needed in formulating professional development opportunities for Catholic school teachers, catechists, principals and directors of religious education.

REQUIREMENTS:
•Practicing Roman Catholic
•In depth familiarity and knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church, its tenets, structure, beliefs and attitudes, with particular understanding of the Diocese of Brooklyn
•Advanced degree and New York State Certification as a School Administrator
•Minimum of five years' experience in Catholic and/or Public School Administration
•Knowledge, expertise, ability and experience working with the New York State Learning Standards and the Diocesan Curriculum
•Ability and experience working in collaboration with others as well as training and experience in presenting information to others
•Excellent written, verbal and platform communication skills
•Computer proficient and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Components
