Location: Marshall Space Flight Center - Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities:
The Space Environmental Effects Test Engineer will serve as an electrical test engineer for the Environmental Effects Branch in the Materials and Processes Laboratory at Marshall Space Flight Center.

: Identify test-specific requirements and test procedures used for aerospace materials, components and subsystems

: Implement test initiatives and demonstrate test technologies that address the design, development, verification, test and operation of aerospace flight systems and ground support hardware

: Derive test criteria and requirements based on flight requirements and simulation of flight environments

: Develop procedures for testing, conduct tests and assessments of the effects of space environments on materials, components, and subsystems of space flight vehicles and ground support hardware

: Examine the implications of test issues and evaluate emerging technologies for inadequacy in flight systems test procedures and techniques

: Perform flight systems verification under simulated space/on-orbit conditions and effects acquisition and analysis of test data

: Apply new approaches to testing and evaluate technically advanced flight systems, mechanisms, instrumentation, materials and other related systems

: Implement strategic test plans, specific metrics, and physical test capabilities in support of flight hardware development programs and associated technology enhancements

: Trouble-shoot test equipment, systems and facilities and perform risk and safety analyses to ensure adherence with procedural, testing and safety instructions

: Perform analysis and prepare detailed test reports

Qualifications:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years applicable experience or any equivalent combination of education/experience is required. Experience in the following areas is strongly desired:

: Vacuum systems

: Fabrication of mechanical and electrical test fixtures

: Spacecraft charging and Electrostatic Discharge related testing and instrumentation

: Test instrumentation systems, design, set-up, check-out, operations, and troubleshooting

: Handling sensitive flight hardware components

: LabView control software

: MS Project

Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
