Desktop Central Platform are Schwab's rep support platforms. It provides a robust, easy to use UI platform for developers to create user-friendly applications that replace a multitude of legacy software programs used by our reps and internal workforce today. The platform and its major applications have been designed with the help and input from hundreds of frontline reps and many other internal users.
Desktop Central platform reflects the latest efforts in Schwab's technology organization, utilizing the best features of Microsoft .NET framework to connect the core Schwab data and services via our enterprise service bus. The platform enables the rapid development and deployment of several strategic Schwab’s internal applications such as Client Central, Ops Central and many more to come. With more than 11,000 machines deployed, the platform is growing quickly and adding new functionality monthly.
Brief Description of Role:
Schwab Technology Services is looking for an energetic, thoughtful, accountable Senior Manager to provide people and project leadership in our Client Service Technology organization. You will lead a team comprised of engineers through a wide variety of projects including customer-facing, business-driven initiatives as well as internally focused infrastructure enhancements tasked with improving capacity, availability, and security. You will be responsible for the coaching, developmental feedback, and career progression of your team.
In addition, you will be expected to have delivery leadership experience and the ability to manage various reporting relationships including direct reporting, matrix reporting, and in partnering relationships. You will be immersed in a collaborative, innovative, and technically challenging environment with opportunities to lead, facilitate, and coordinate through all phases of the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with other People and Project Managers, Technical Architects, and Senior Leaders to define the roadmap for the team and ensure the organization’s goals are met. The ability to thoughtfully manage issues and communicate them appropriately is a must. The Senior Manager is responsible for the people management and overall delivery of a segment of the Client Central and Chat and Email projects.
2+ years of direct or indirect people management experience
5+ years working in a distributed development environment
3+ years of demonstrated project management experience leading multiple, concurrent, multi-site projects tasked with delivering Enterprise technical solutions
Demonstrated ability to identify key stakeholders, assess their needs, build mutually beneficial relationships and manage their expectations through effective communication
Must be able to expertly manage risk and understand the impacts of priority, scope, timeline, and resource decisions
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to quickly and effectively resolve conflict
Hands-on technical experience in the phases of software development (requirements, design, construction, test, support) preferred
Must have demonstrated extensive capability leading development teams in Object-oriented design & development in the distributed environments over the 5+ year period using C#, C++
Working knowledge in relational database (SQLServer) is a big plus
Strong troubleshooting skills is desired.
Experience in planning, implementation and support of business application components
Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology & trends, domain knowledge and experience in infrastructure support, application development, and database admin. including: client/server web services portal middleware operating systems databases networking security & business intelligence
Knowledge of software development, testing, maintenance and support.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
