Bachelor's Degree preferred
The Child Care Associate plans and carries out a daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of a group of children. This person must be able to effectively supervise other staff assisting in the classroom, be sensitive to the needs of individual children and relate well to both children and adults.
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent, plus satisfactory completion of a minimum of 2 non-credit courses in early childhood education approved by the Department of Health and Family Services or its equivalent, and must meet the DHFS minimum age requirement of 18 years. Certificate from the registry of the Wisconsin early childhood professional recognition system within 3 months after assuming the position as evidence of meeting the education and experience qualifications.
- Required: A minimum of 80 days as a full-time child care worker or 120 days as a half-time worker or volunteer in a licensed day care center, a kindergarten or an early childhood program approved by the Department of Health and Family Services.
