Covance is currently searching for a full time Sr. Microbiologist to provide consulting services to our clients. This is a regular full time position with Covance.

As a SENIOR MICROBIOLOGICAL CONSULTANT your daily job duties would include the following:

  • Directs clients in microbiological harborage site investigations to locate cross-contaminants within products or plant environments.
  • Directs the development of client food safety programs such as HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and prerequisite plans for meat, produce, dairy, seafood and/or ingredient manufacturers.
  • Conducts portions of training courses for HACCP, basic microbiology, GMP’s and prerequisite programs.
  • Supports the sales efforts for the consulting group leading to growth of microbiological food safety services within the Nutritional Chemistry and Food Safety division.
  • Collaborate with research assistants in responding to client requests for information.
  • Work as part of a team to build food microbiology laboratory and consulting services within Covance that includes microbiologists, chemists, sales and marketing
  • Direct and coordinate efforts of client’s plant management during governmental enforcement actions
  • Decisively assess and internally communicate action plans during governmental enforcement events
  • Assist with client billing
  • Represents Covance at industry trade association meetings.
  • Contribute to the creation of an employee empowered work environment that is stimulating and rewarding

    The Required Education for the Senior Microbiological Consultant includes:

  • B.S. in Microbiology or related science degree, with advanced degree preferred
  • 10 years experience in quality and microbiology department, preferable at food production plant.
  • Knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations as they pertain to food safety.

    Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Microbiological Consultant includes:

  • At least 10 years related experience, preferably in the quality or microbiological industry.
  • At least 10 years experience developing and implementing food safety systems, preferable at the plant level.
