General Summary: Performs specialized diagnostic/therapeutic cardiac procedures according to departmental protocol as requested by physician order. Assists Cardiologists and other physicians as required. The incumbent should possess excellent knowledge of radiographic, cardiac, and peripheral vascular anatomy with an ability to use a wide variety of specialized radiographic equipment/technical instruments including pressure injectors, digital imaging, and patient monitoring equipment. Knowledge of appropriate catheters and guide-wires for specific procedures and the ability work under stressful conditions. Maintains established organization and department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety. Responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe working environment throughout the facility adhering to all safety management policies and procedures. Attends all mandatory in-service programs and maintains professional education requirements. This individual should have knowledge of safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure to patients, co-workers, and self; also to include use of shielding materials and patient restraint devices as well as an understanding of sterilization techniques. Human relation skills are required to handle patients, visitors and physicians with a high degree of courtesy, care and tact. Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient. Must possess the ability to assess patient data relative to age specific needs and provide care as described in the departments policies and procedures. Identifies care needs of patients/significant others and implements interventions and utilizes equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served to include: young adults, middle adults, late adults. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum Requirements: Graduate of AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Licensed by the State of Maryland. Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language. One year experience in Cardiac Cath Lab preferred.
