In a Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center setting, provides a full range of advice and counsel on positive social skills, and educational and career development in a group residential facility. The incumbent works with individual students to assist them in meeting career goals. Works with staff members to provide personalized learning opportunities for students that emphasize employability skills and career success standards.
Provides leadership and supervision to students in a residential group living situation. Works with students and staff to insure a safe and secure living environment.
Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work; establishes guidelines and performance expectations for the staff supervised. Provides feedback, and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to employees. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Qualifying experience for the GS-9 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to GS-8 that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirements for the GS-9 level may be met by completion of two (2) years of graduate level education (36 semester/54 quarter hours) or a master's degree with courses such as counseling, human behavior, psychology, social behavior, and sociology.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.
