We are seeking an seasoned Thermal-Mechanical engineer to support new business development and design of thermal-pneumatic, thermal-hydraulic control valves and systems for aerospace bleed air, ice protection, environmental , and engine control applications.

Essential Responsibilities
The Selected candidate will perform a variety of new business development and design activities for the entire life cycle from conception to delivery, including leading systems design / definition, trade study, and requirements definition with the customer thru qualification and entry into service. Work in a multidisciplinary environment with systems, mechanical, electrical, software, and safety engineers to develop complete solutions to customer needs. This role will position the selected candidate to become a key member of a growing team which will utilize a broad range of GE technologies to further the state of the art in aircraft bleed air, anti-ice, engine and environmental control valves.
In addition, you will:

  • Work directly with external and internal customers including GE Aircraft engines to analyze needs and define system architectures and valve product requirements
  • Work with the world renowned GE global research center and utilize their research and expertise in advanced materials, processes and design concepts to develop state of the art products for engine and airframe mounted air modulating valves, while furthering the state of the art performance and durability of these valves
  • Work with the modeling team in understanding and predicting both static and dynamic system and component behavior
  • Execute New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to meet business standards, practices and procedures as well as product / program requirements
  • Act as presenter & reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments
  • Work with the customer and test lab to ensure product performance and qualification requirements are met
  • Work with Operations to ensure product meets cost and manufacturability objectives
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures


  • Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years in Engineering, with a minimum of 1 year of experience with systems that control the flow of air using pneumatic or fuel actuation

    Desired Characteristics
  • Experience leading the development of new opportunities and reviewing technical approaches, estimates, and schedules
  • Possess an understanding of thermal systems and valve applications in Bleed air, ECS, ice protection, and engine controls
  • Understanding and experience with safety and reliability analysis
  • Familiarity in working w/electro-pneumatic, electro-mechanical, pneumatically operated, and hydraulically operated butterfly, poppet, and pintel valves for the control of air
  • Knowledge of the Airworthiness requirements and experience evaluating, coordinating and deciding the means for compliance
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience leading cross-functional teams
  • An understanding of Six Sigma tools to make data-based recommendations and decisions
  • Proven ability to understand different simulation and modeling tools and capable of using such tools to analyze bleed systems and/or individual components performance
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, and compressible flow
