This is a professional staff position at the Lakeshore Municipal Golf Course. The major emphasis of the position is the management of the clubhouse, including food, beverage and pro shop profit centers. The position coordinates public relations, promotion and daily play of the course by developing, implementing and monitoring fee schedules, tournament and outing packages, plus golfer development programs. The position will be responsible for administrative duties, including budget control, financial accountability, overviews, forecasting and reports. The position will work under the jurisdiction of the Golf Course Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. · Work hours will vary according to the needs and requirements of the course and operations. It is essential that this position works a flexible schedule and is prepared to work early in the morning, late in the evening, weekends and holidays. · Personnel: Establishes the needs for clubhouse and golf play personnel. Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, schedules, directs, monitors, supervises, evaluates and disciplines seasonal and part-time staff. Coordinates daily work start and break times, job responsibilities, days off, and coverage of areas. Emphasizes the need for employees to deliver excellent customer service. · Pro shop: Establishes purchasing plans according to patron demographics and needs. Does ordering, inventory, stocking and monitoring of all merchandise and product. Promotes the sales of merchandise and services, with an emphasis on filling tee-times. Manages the golf cart fleet. · Program: Coordinates, supervises and monitors the golf play reservation system, starting times, and pace of play. Organizes and schedules golf lessons. Oversees and administers the handicap system. Creates, develops, organizes, promotes and assists with tournament, outing and special event schedules, programs and services. Schedules and monitors the practice facility. Creates, organizes, promotes, directs and monitors golf development programs, including Junior golf. Enforces golf play policies, regulations and rules. Creates, designs, organizes and monitors special promotions (discount golfing options). · Food and Beverages: Evaluates product according to needs and desires of course patrons. Does ordering, inventory, value pricing, monitoring and control of food and beverage products, including vending machines. Creates special concession area promotions. · Marketing and Promotions: Compiles, surveys and study’s information from market area competition for comparison of operations, pricing and programs. Survey and determine the most cost efficient marketing options that provide exceptional value. Develop marketing and promotional strategies. Create, prepare, distribute and monitor written promotional publications and materials. Will schedule, talk with, and promote the golf course to service clubs, businesses, groups, and on Cable Access TV. Administers the golf course web site and on-line reservations. · Administration: Will be responsible for all financial aspects of clubhouse operations. i.e., ordering and inventory of golf play control units (bag tags); proper operations of cash registers and point-of-sales mechanisms; collection, counting, monitoring, reporting, securing, and deposition of daily cash flow; and, establishment of checks and balances to assure accountability. Prepares and recommends the clubhouse budget, which includes the review and forecasting of revenues and expenses (the budget is submitted to the General Manager). Will record information from timecards or time sheets, and prepare and submit payrolls according to City scheduled times and procedures. Will inventory and safe-keep all clubhouse equipment, product and resources. Creates, administers and evaluates surveys, including attendance counts, golfing trends, customer satisfaction and/or complaints. Recommends policies and procedures for golf operations. · Clubhouse: Responsible for the general care and cleaning of the clubhouse, including food area, pro shop, seating area, locker rooms, restrooms, plus all support areas. Also responsible for the grounds surrounding the clubhouse. · Other: Will participate in continuing education programs, i.e., professional schools, workshops, and conferences. May assist with other Park Department related work, as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: · Associate Degree in Golf Management, Business, Recreation Administration, Marketing or related field. · Registered in PGA of America Apprenticeship Program or Class A Membership in PGA of America. · Demonstrated experience in golf management, with an emphasis on clubhouse management, including a pro shop, food and beverage services. · Wisconsin driver’s license. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Knowledge, background and understanding with regard to the golf profession and golf course operations. · Knowledge, background and/or experience with clubhouse management, including pro shop, food and beverage sales and services. Shall have knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and City regulations pertaining to alcohol and food services. · Knowledge, background and/or experience in golf play programming, including tee time reservation system’s, pace of play, tournament organization, working with special outings, Junior golf, practice range use, and applicable golf play hazards and safety issues. · Shall have an understanding of purchasing versus leasing options for golf equipment, (i.e., golf cars and food or beverage equipment). · Shall have knowledge and understanding of golf course reporting systems and records. · Knowledge, background and/or experience in business (bookkeeping), marketing or related field, plus an understanding of survey techniques to determine customer needs. · Good interpersonal and communication skills, be team oriented, and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with course customers, fellow employees, and purveyors. Shall be personable and outgoing, love to work with people, have a positive attitude, and be creative with ideas. · Knowledge of computer functions, and “desired” experience with programs including Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint. · Basic philosophy and understanding of supervision, plus demonstrated supervisory skills are desired to lead seasonal and part-time employees, volunteers and interns. · Basic knowledge and understanding of building maintenance, cleaning methods, and products to provide a clean and sanitary clubhouse environment and experience. · Ability to perform troubleshooting functions related to clubhouse operations and customer equipment (cash registers, soda-pour guns, repair of golf clubs, etc.). · Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Motorized vehicles, including golf cars. Concession equipment, including fryer’s, beer and soda dispensers, and refrigeration units. Also uses computer, calculator, cash register, phone, and mobile radio.
