To meet increasing activity with the League’s international expansion and a multitude of ongoing US projects, the Director of Venue Development will be responsible for managing the development, design and construction of various NBA projects which may include arenas, retail, office or other NBA branded venues.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop scope, schedule and budgets for potential future development projects working with international business development groups • Manage design and construction process to include internal teams, architects, engineers, other external consultants and contractors • Manage project budgets, costs, schedules and contracts • Report on project status to internal management as well as NBA partners/clients • Ensure NBA design standards are being met on all projects and to help enhance the NBA’s design standards

Requirements

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Skilled technical writer • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of architectural design, detailing, building materials, construction techniques and costs • Proven knowledge of general architecture practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, and mechanical & electrical engineering • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills with the ability to build quick rapport with all levels of staff, partners, consultants and vendors • Proven ability in problem identification, problem solving and conflict resolution • Ability to make decisions in a timely matter with input from team and stakeholders • Ability and willingness to travel • Proficient in reading architecture and engineering drawings • Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to multi-task • Excellent verbal communications skills • Self-starter and ability to work with little guidance • AutoCAD skills a plus
Experience Needed

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible project management experience in real estate development, design & construction, architecture, and/or MEP or civil engineering field • Experience in managing the entire development life-cycle including strategy, planning, approvals, documentation, construction and commissioning
Educational Background Required

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management and/or Architecture • Masters in Business is a plus
