Job Function
The Oklahoma Climatological Survey is seeking a talented and highly motivated system administrator to join our team. The individual selected for this position will join an organization whose systems ingest, process, archive, and disseminate data from a number of sources, including weather station networks which OCS maintains. The successful applicant will set up, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, software, storage systems and network connections, and will serve as a technical resource for OCS and its various missions, including operations of the Oklahoma Mesonet. This individual will engage internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues on both server and desktop platforms. As a member of our operations team, this individual will be part of our on-call staff and will help maintain maximum availability of our data and services, which are used by researchers to expand our knowledge of the atmosphere and by decision makers to protect lives and property.

Department Preferences
Support of server systems - Linux and/or other server operating systems (e.g.BSD).
Support of desktop systems - Windows, MacOSX.
Command line system administration of Debian or Gentoo Linux systems.
Knowledge of web development on "LAMP" (Linux Apache MySQL PHP/Perl) systems with HTML, JS, CSS, PHP and /or Perl).
Programming/scripting knowledge - e.g. C, C++, PHP, Perl, and /or shell scripting.
Advanced IP Networking - e.g. Ethernet, Routing, Firewalling, VPN setup.
Advanced Network Management - e.g. SNMP, Nagios, OpenWRT/DD-WRT, Cisco-IOS.
Services Admin - e.g. Email, Web, FTP, LDAP, Samba, MySQL, DNS, Load Balancing.
Hardware Admin - e.g. RAID, PXE/etherboot, IPMI, Virtual machines on Linux.
Data aquistion - e.g. serial-over-IP, dataloggers, CSI LoggerNet
Basic nowledge of radio - e.g. Amateur Radio, Shortwave/Scanner, or WiFi.
Basic knowledge of meteorology - e.g. classes and/or Skywarn spotter training.

artion of mobile systems such as iOS (iPhone/iPad), Android, or Blackberry. Basic knowledge of electronics. Basic knowledge of GIS, mapping systems. Basic knowledge of data management - e.g. archival, backups, logging

Windows or MacOS experience.

Required Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses:
These requirements may be imposed by federal, state or recognized accrediting agency as a prerequisite of employment
Valid driver's license.
