Coordinate highway maintenance and repair projects and/or inspect mowing/snow removal contracts and/or responsible for monitoring and verifying equipment rental usage contractors and may coordinate crew assignments. Oversee and monitor custodial security policies and procedures in the use of inmate crews on roadways. Operate various pieces of equipment using advanced level skills requiring a valid driver license and class A CDL. Cutting brush/flagging traffic/picking up litter and other duties as needed.

May coordinate crew assignments. Responsible for implementing custodial security policies and procedures in the use of inmate crews on roadways.
Performs advanced level work in roadway or roadside maintenance operations. Operates intermediate equipment such as backhoe, front-end loader, grader, tandem truck, tow paver, hydro seeder; and performs other duties as required. Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements : Incumbents in this classification typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility, at work sties throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide. Positions in this class must possess the ability to walk, sit, stoop and bend.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Works extended hours and be outside during inclement weather. Must be able to respond to emergencies. Additional Requirements : Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.
