This position will serve a community liaison at the Health Commons. Primary duties include serving as cultural advisors and community experts to non-East African students and health care providers serving the community, assisting nurses at the health commons with language needs and cultural information, reaching out to the community to educate them about the Commons, recruiting residents for community education classes, assist with community forums and health screening and immunization events. The BCL will provide community resource education, coordinate referral, transportation service and assist clients in scheduling and maintaining follow up care in primary care settings/healthcare home. The position will work closely with registered nurses.
High level proficiency in both English and Somali/Oromo or Amharic Language-written and verbal
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with community based or health and human services organizations with the majority of the position providing services to immigrant, low income communities.
CHW certificate of training preferred (May consider candidates who intends to complete training).
Interpreting training and experience in the medical field preferred.
